That’s because Novation equipped the Launchpad Pro with special Chord and Scale Modes. Chord Mode makes it easy to explore different chord voicings and harmonies, and trigger them right from the grid. Scale Modes automatically assign the pads to specific notes, making it impossible for you to play out of key. All told, Chord and Scale Modes not only let you play your Launchpad Pro MK3 like an instrument, they can inspire your creativity.
In addition to its remarkable playability, the Novation Launchpad Pro MK3 controller also gives you quick, immediate access to all of your mixer controls. This lets you change settings in the midst of a performance without losing your flow. There’s no separate mixer mode to hamper your creativity — simply press and hold a button, make a change, release the button, and drop straight back to your performance. It really is that easy to tweak channel levels and panning, aux send levels, and so on.

Responding to requests from artists of all types, this firmware update brings Unquantized Recording to free yourself from the restrictions of rigid grid-based sequencing. Your beats don’t need to be confined to the grid, allowing you to record into micro steps for off-grid grooves. Another much-requested feature comes in the form of Legacy Mode which re-introduces the User layout of the original Launchpad Pro, allowing you to transfer your old Launchpad Pro projects into the Launchpad Pro MK3 environment.
